The Luceco FType has quietly dominated the UK fire-rated downlight market by solving a simple problem: electricians used to carry warm white, cool white, and daylight downlights separately. The FType MK2 CCT combines all four colour temperatures in one unit, reducing van stock and eliminating the risk of ordering the wrong temperature for a job.
A slide switch on the back of the fitting selects between 2700K (warm white — suitable for bedrooms and living areas), 3000K (neutral white — a versatile option for most domestic spaces), 4000K (cool white — popular for kitchens and home offices), and 6500K (daylight — task areas and garages). The selection is made before the bezel is clipped into position. Once installed, the switch is not easily accessible without removing the bezel, so confirming the correct colour temperature before installation is important.
A separate switch selects 4W or 6W output. The 4W setting is adequate for most bedroom and living room applications; 6W provides noticeably higher output for kitchens, bathrooms, and areas where task lighting matters. The ability to adjust output at the fitting reduces the need to stock two separate wattage products.
The fire rating to 30/60/90 minutes satisfies Building Regulations Part B (fire safety) requirements for downlights in ceilings that form part of a fire compartment — which is the case for virtually all domestic ceiling installations between floors or below lofts. IP65 satisfies Part P requirements for zone-rated bathroom luminaires in zones 1 and 2.
The push-fit terminal block accepts standard 1.0mm and 1.5mm two-core-and-earth cable without requiring a screwdriver — the cable simply inserts and locks. This speeds up multiple-fitting installations significantly. The 70mm cut-out is a standard size that fits new plasterboard installations and most existing halogen cut-outs.
